The modernist Corbusier inspired Alton estate (Corbusier never built anything in England) was used as the setting for Fahrenheit 451

These were hailed as great buildings, at the time, raised on piloti and allowing an expensive West London landscape to flow underneath them. The film makers seem to have known better, in hindsight.

  1. Typohunter Says:

The name of the architect was “Le Corbusier”, not Corbusier. Cf. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_Corbusier

  2. admin Says:

@Typohunter - don’t be an idiot. Corbusier is most often used these days without the French ‘the’, and being a nickname the point is irrelevant.

  3. ALEX THE ARCHITECT Says:

Charles-Édouard Jeanneret was his name, but he affectionately referred to himself as “Le Corbusier”. HA HA , he was ‘the crow” !!!! All my snobby Architecture professor friends call him “corb”. Freedom of speech allows you to cal him what you wish. I just call him a great Architect who stalked a better designer until he swam out to sea and killed himself.

…and capitalize Architecture you lowly tree dweller!
