I love the nano 2nd generation. big deal, use the separate cradle, it won’t kill you.
October 22nd, 2007 at 12:36 pm
Are you nuts, i love the ipod shuffle, there is a point in product design where making something smaller actually makes it ” a whole lot better”. who cares about the cradle adapter, its about usability, the shuffle lets you listen to high quality audio while doing anything like i dont have to worry about falling while playing sports, jogging etc, you dont need a pocket or belt holder or arm band or any of that crap. just clip it anywhere, good job apple!

This Shuffle is great..small and simple. AND,You dont need that cradle to charge it or sync it.There is a little product that plugs into the headphone jack and is USB on the other end. The whole unit is approx. 1″ long and You can put it on Your keyring. An excellent acces. You can find it at Usb brando.com.hk…

As Jobs once said, quite possibly the most ‘wearable’ MP3 player ever. Worst apple product ever? No way…
October 22nd, 2007 at 1:53 pm
Nah, this is a great idea, build the player right into the clip. Very subtle, very portable. Like others have said, use the cable not the cradle and there’s no problem. The old Shuffle, now THAT was an annoying form factor for people on the go, and isn’t the whole point of the Shuffle to use it on the go?
October 22nd, 2007 at 2:44 pm
The person who wrote this must be fat and out of shape, cause they clearly do not go to the gym very much. This is the ULTIMATE gym mp3 player.
October 22nd, 2007 at 3:28 pm
This is the most ridiculous rating ever. All the posts clearly point out the benefits of this product. If someone never owned the first generation, the 2nd cradle argument doesn’t pan out. Backwards compatibility can be the evil crutch holding back great product evolution…
October 22nd, 2007 at 3:30 pm
@ Mike. Ha, interestingly enough that’s exactly what I use the second generation shuffle for - the gym. But I’ve found that I keep having to borrow my wife’s first generation shuffle because I forget to charge it.
We deliberately picked this because it is often held up as a piece of good product design, but we think that the original version was both more innovative and more ergonomic.
October 22nd, 2007 at 3:36 pm
You’re idiots. That’s all.
October 23rd, 2007 at 3:52 pm
Again, another ridiculous rating for an otherwise excellent product. I can’t find one thing wrong with the Shuffle. Sounds great, looks great, works great. I will buy another if and when I need to.
October 23rd, 2007 at 3:53 pm
Hardly the worst. Probably one of the best considering how tough and portable these things are. I’ve taken this baby to hiking, mountain climbing and even beach trip (which a little waterproofing) and it performs without hitch.
Who is making this list anyway?
October 24th, 2007 at 2:48 pm
Well, 2nd (and 3rd) gen shuffle are great. I don’t have an idea why they put in on the list. Maybe change the 2 gen nano to 3 gen nano? ;P
October 24th, 2007 at 2:48 pm
I mean change 2 gen shuffle to 3 gen nano of course :)
October 24th, 2007 at 4:19 pm
Worst? You have GOT to be kidding me! I’ve been a Mac user & fan since 1988, and this iPod is one of my favorite possessions! Simple, inexpensive, foolproof, unobtrusive. This is the kind of design that has made so many of us loyalists into fanatics!
November 4th, 2007 at 6:43 pm
The 1st Generation Shuffle was riddled with hardware flaws, and that was a stupid looking design. The 2nd Gen Shuffle is the best for working out at the gym or riding a bike. It is completely weightless! You don’t even realize you are wearing it. And the battery life is superb!
November 7th, 2007 at 9:14 pm
I think someone needs to go back and edit this list and remove several items from it that clearly don’t belong, and this is one of them. This is a beautiful design and fulfills it’s purpose nicely.

Everyone has their own opinion.
If you don’t like it, post your own opinion. But to suggest this page be removed — that’s ridiculous.
Make your own Gadget Photo website if you don’t like it! Get a clue noob.

I don’t particularly like the 2G Shuffle (I’m a 1G fanboi) But this is not one of thier worst products.
January 30th, 2008 at 7:30 pm
I definitely understand the seperate dock frustration, but other than that my 2 gen shuffle has been durable, and easy to carry and use without attracting a lot of attention from would-be thieves.
February 15th, 2008 at 10:14 am
Totally agree. I much preferred the first generation so much more.
March 10th, 2008 at 4:17 am
I don’t agree at all. iPod Shuffle 2G with a Shure SE530 that have a short cable is the most comfortable pair of devices I’ve ever had.
April 15th, 2008 at 12:15 pm
Use the other cradle, you baby! Quit whining because a part of the product is missing–of which you don’t even need. I remember when these things came out in australia-they were the biggest thing. I
May 12th, 2008 at 6:33 am
The 2G Shuffle is just awesome!
It is just one of the BEST Apple products ever. It is the perfect match between usability and aesthetics.
This product is, in my opinion, very underestimated and misunderstood.
I was of those who wanted a screen, because having a screen is techy, modern, fun, and I was to say “Oh, man, why would I have a player without a screen, how could I choose the music I want to listen to ?”
The fact is, with a shufle, you put your very own music into it, the capacity is large enough not to get bored too quickly, but small enough to keep in mind what’s in (when not using the auto-fill mode).
You want a device that allows to listen to music ? There it is, it is called the Apple Shuffle. You just listen to music with it, nothing more, nothing else, nothing unnecessary.
(note : Yes, I just do love it and would cry if I were to lose or break it)
May 23rd, 2008 at 10:06 am
Worst product? My wife accidentally washed AND dried her Shuffle.
Yup, still works.
June 26th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
Are you crazy. I love my shuffle. I keep it hidden under my tie. I have the headphone cord go into my shirt under there and come up as if it were a Secret Service head set. It does not look bad at all with a suit and it is easily clipped on anywhere. Under the shirt on my t-shirt is common for me too. This thing is GREAT.
July 15th, 2008 at 4:52 pm
Wow, I have to say this is my favorite iPod product ever. Whoever wrote this must not exercise and listen to music — I can clip it anywhere and go running and it’s utterly weightless and convenient. You really think dangling the old shuffle around your neck on a string is a better solution than a tiny clip you can put anywhere?
October 6th, 2008 at 9:53 pm
I have never seen or heard complain about 2nd gen iPod Shuffle. It is hardly the worst or bad one.
I just got feeling that you don’t know much about Apple products at all.
October 7th, 2008 at 2:01 pm
I agree.second gen Nanos suck donkey balls.
October 7th, 2008 at 11:50 pm
I must disagree - while the ergonomics of the 2G shuffle aren’t the best, and the lack of built-in USB rules out “flash drive usage”, the tiny size and integrated clip make this a fantastic iPod.
Yep, at a retail store where I was working (unloading trucks) a while back, we were allowed to listen to music. Yet, my video iPod was much too clumsy - but I found I could clip the iPod Shuffle to the lanyard attached to my name tag. With a set of comfortable earbuds with short cables, I’d actually forget I was wearing it if I wasn’t listening to it! Indeed, the biggest problem with the 2G for me is remembering to check my pockets before putting clothes into the wash - iPods don’t swim.
January 7th, 2009 at 7:07 pm
Worst? This was a tiny marvel. I liked it.
WORST not on this list: that horrible perfectly round hockey puck mouse from years ago. That should be at the TOP of this list
September 22nd, 2009 at 6:59 pm
This is not the worst, and not the best. deal with it. use the dock anyways
