Dinky Toys Eagle Transporter

__SPACER__ The Eagle Transporter with its distinctive code shaped cockpit, and open truss backbone, was a classic toy from the UK series Space 1999. The Dinky Toy models often had had green cockpit and legs, rather than the usual white.

Oh man, you guys are too much. I’ve got this toy on my desk right now. I saved up and bought it new when I was a kid (I’m 40 now) and I’ve had it since then.

Mine’s missing the personnel compartment in the middle and has suffered from years of playing but it’s right here. Cool stuff.

I had one of these too! Although I immediately scraped off the green paint when I got it home and did a crappy touch-up with white spray paint. The Space:1999 toy that my brother and I liked most was the 3 foot long Eagle made by Mattel, it was HUGE! The side doors and cockpit opened and it had a fold out crane on it. Cool for a kid in the mid-seventies!

As with the above commentator, I have one of these parked on top of my computer monitor. It is fully intact although the bare aluminum parts have started to fuzz up a bit. I have had it since new and it is one of my few and favorite remaining pieces of childhood. Just do yourself a favor and don’t try to watch any of the old Space 1999 episodes. This has doors that open in the passenger compartment and of course the whole passenger compartment can be detached. The landing gear is also spring loaded. Dinky made some quality toys!

Oh man, I really loved this machine. I have the cargo version with blue painted cockpit and legs. It is a bit used now as it was played with a lot. But it is still here, parked in my vitrine and ready for action. It is a sort of quick response vehicle for the occasional flashback into childhood when I have the desire to fly a bit through space and feequickly needl to lose some 30 years of age … :-D
I was asked if I would sell it … NEVER!

I had the 3-footer as well, and boy was that awesome!
