A classic twin speaker setup, but at 30 inches long, this was a true metallic monster.

  9. JOhn Says:

Hey, there’s one on ebay right now for $1000

  10. David Says:

I have one that I got recently, and the only thing wrong with it is that the bottom cassette door is missing. It has normal wear on it, and a few minor scratches on the chrome, but it works fine. I can’t sell it for less than $400 though.

  11. Jose Says:

  25. Ricky Says:

check out the new one. C100-FXL. I’m hoping that is one is a reality. I haven’t seen it yet but in drawings

  26. James Says:

RE:what is the difference between the Conion C-100F and the C-100FF?
The C-100F was the first version and was 120 Volts AC only.
The C-100FF was the second version and had switchable 120V/240V AC Selector.
I had both. Sold them for crazy money on Ebay, hard to believe, but when I bought these back in the day, they were, like, $200 new and sold in flea markets and questionable NYC electronics stores.
These were LOUD but not quality.
The tape decks were a joke, especially the playback only one. Designed to break with normal use.
Sloppy electronics assembly and too much wiring inside with too many connection points.
And a battery hog. 10 D batteries, my goodness.
But they were fun and I guess that’s what’s it’s all about!

  27. vic Says:

i have one, anyone want to buy it? make offer,

  33. Phil Says:

Yes….this was my favorite toy back then. That burglar alarm killed your batteries. I wish there was a way to hook up a strap to carry it because it killed your arms carrying it.

Curious as to which Michael that is being referred to here - is the Michael here the one that live’s in; ICE KOLD CANADA or this another person that I dont know ? p.s. am woring on getting a ‘ face book ‘ page put together with my name ….

  35. Michael Says:

I have seen it labeled with 4 brands all the same… Clairtone 7980-Conion C100-Helix- and the very rare Nippon brand but i have NEVER ever seen or heard of one branded as MIKE so could you please post a pic when you get it?

By the way…i got $700.00 for what you refered to as my beater junk Clairtone in the stolen pic above… :)

  36. FRANKSTUF9 Says:

I bought my c100f back in 1984. I owned other ghetto blasters before , but they never kicked butt like the c100f !. I still have my radio , but the tape decks no longer work . The top deck never truly worked correctly even when it was new. I am currently seeking out someone who might be able to repair my classic ghetto box!! Most of the younger people under 30 have never even seen anything like it , and I get a kick out of watching their reactions when I play in from the back of my suv in the park. I hope these boom boxes make a come -back , with up dated technology….

  37. Egotrip Says:

I have a Conion C100F now. I am trying to get it repaired. Places to repair it don’t seem to exist. I found 2 shops willing to take a look. It is in good cosmetic shape, all knobs , both antennae, bottom cassette door intact. I had one of the drivers replaced 20 years ago. I plugged it up and I get NOTHING. Anyone know where to get schematics? It would be great to get the ole girl pounding again, if not then I will probably sell it for parts.

  38. Susan Says:

I still have mine after 25 years. Just needs a cleaning. 35 watts is much more than I need for my apartment. My Landlord can only stand it up to #3 of 10. Love it. Well worth the amount of money I spent for it. I had the schematics till a little while ago.

  39. Donald Kunkel Says:

Have one for sale in very good condition…let me know your offer to buy….Fm PA.

  40. Derek Says:

Egotrip…I have a wiring diagram for the 7980 if you need it. Also interested in selling my 7980 if anyone is interested in it. I’ve had since Christmas Day in 1984 :) . It’s in excellent shap, but Tape 1 wasn’t working when I powered it up tonight (after several years of not using it). From what I’ve read, this is a common problem apparently. It’s probably quite fixable by someone who knows what they are doing. I have the original owners manual.

  42. Anti-Michael Says:

@Michael. Are you retarded? He wasn’t referring to the value of the boombox, he was referring to the value of the picture which you were initially referring to. What is your problem dude? U think this website should pay you or something for putting your pic on their page which has had about 50 comments? How much revenue in advertising you think your glamourous jpeg-compressed awesome pic with 80’s horizontal blinds and exquisite vinyl decking has generated? perhaps $3.50? $5? Send me your address and I’ll send you a check.

  55. Joey Says:

Hey, I had boombox very similar to this growing up in the Bronx in the 80’s. 5 years ago I had a bad accident , I fell 5 stories landing on a concrete sidewalk leaving me paralyzed from the waist down and in a wheelchair. I always was a sentimental person but even more so now since my accident. I would love it if someone somewhere would be willing to sell me a mega boombox and a piece of my childhood back since it feels like so much was taking away from me without me having a choice. Please I would really appreciate it if my request will be answered.
Thank you for being my therapist for a few minutes.
    Joey ( from the Bronx).
