Vintage Tones has just taken delivery of a very special STC
Ribbon microphone collection used at the Royal Albert
Hall in London, England. The collection arrived complete with many
original models from the Standard Telephone and Cable
company. These mics originally belonged to the "event" sound
engineer for the Royal Albert Hall from the late 1950s He passed
away in the early 1990s and the collection was passed down to his
son and then sold to Vintage Tones.
Typical events covered during this time included
Frank Sinatra, Barry Manilow, Boxing, Tennis, Last night of
the Proms, James Last Orchestra, Remembrance Services,
and many other conference and music events. Standard Telephones & Cable (STC) was based
in Woolwich, London at the time the mics were
manufactured. When the mad rush for businesses to vacate
London in the 1950/60's occurred...STC moved 30 miles East to the
new town of Basildon, Essex.
We have not decided if we are going to split this
package up. We are currently testing and evaluating the
microphones. Please call for details.
