DEEP WEB – kinetic audiovisual installation and performance

DEEP WEB is a monumental immersive audiovisual installation created by light artist Christopher Bauder and audiovisual composer Robert Henke. Sublimating the spectacular industrial architecture of Kraftwerk Berlin, DEEP WEB plunges the audience into a ballet of iridescent kinetic light and surround sound. The work will be presented daily within CTM 2016 Festival in collaboration with Kraftwerk Berlin. It will close with a special enhanced live performance version on Sunday 7 February.

The work was originally commissioned by the Festival of Lights Lyon 2015, and developed in cooperation with local producer Tetro. Due to the festival’s cancellation after the tragic events in Paris, Berliners have the unique chance to attend an exclusive preview before the project will be presented in December 2016 in Lyon.

High-end laser system manufacturer LaserAnimation Sollinger provides the technical expertise and development for this very specific spatial laser setup, while the motor winch systems and main control software are developed by Design Studio WHITEvoid and Kinetic Lights.

LICHTGRENZE – Light art installation for 25 years fall of the Berlin wall

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, WHITEvoid’s creative director Christopher Bauder and his brother Marc were commissioned by the City of Berlin to create an extraordinary light installation called LICHTGRENZE (Border of Lights).

From the 7th to the 9th of November 2014 the 15.3 kilometer frontier that once divided the city center was re-imagined in light by 8000 balloon lights all developed and produced by WHITEvoid. Running through the heart of Berlin, from Bornholmer Straße to the Oberbaumbrücke, the installation was stretching past the Mauerpark, along the Berlin Wall memorial on Bernauer Straße through to the Brandenburg Gate, over Potsdamer Platz to Checkpoint Charlie and on to the East Side Gallery.

More than 1 Million people was taking part in the choreographed and televised balloon release event in the streets of Berlin on the last day of the installation.

The brothers Christopher Bauder and Marc Bauder conceived the idea of the LICHTGRENZE in 2011, supported by the Robert-Havemann-Gesellschaft e.V. and developed with the help of Kulturprojekte Berlin. The LICHTGRENZE is part of the anniversary celebrations that were organised by Kulturprojekte Berlin GmbH as part of an initiative from the city of Berlin.
