...actually, the Dragonball fail isn't.

The dragonball fail is actually a Street Fighter fail. behold: http://gamingilluminati.com/gouki_big.jpg gouki/akuma.

Thanks "the vision".

I stand corrected, and have edited the post for truth. :D

Appreciate it, I was having a hard time making that one out!

how could you possibly call the nintendo fanboy costume a fail?! i've never seen such an accurate representation of all things obsessive and nintendo. he even has the gameglove! THE GAMEGLOVE! surely that's worth something.

mustdestroyalltraces: Aha! I see I have a fellow nerd in my midst! :)

Yes, granted the power glove is a worthy adversary of all that is FAIL, I know we all learned in "The Wizard" that the Power Glove was the ultimate in cool and "badness". ;)

Yet, to be the ultimate fanboy costume, our little friend is missing some key touches.

1. The cape. Yes, his bedsheet is nice but the obvious fan-boy choice would be to use the power pad gaming mat.

2. To prove your true NES fandomness, one must, I repeat; MUST use the virtualboy goggles, if not on the fact at least perched on the top of the head.

3. All super heros of note need a sidekick. Fanboy here overlooked the obvious - perching an R.O.B. robot on his shoulder like a parrot would have won him entry into the annals of WIN.

It was close, but with 3 crucial mistakes like that, it was FAIL territory. :)

Thanks for your reply though! I see where you were coming from!

first of all, no true fanboy recognizes the virtualboy. the mere fact that they had it on a tripod and had a red-based screen dismisses it as a necessary part of a fanboy's collection--though being obscure as it is it can impress. while it would be permissible to have it, i think we shouldn't be so quick to hold it against him. if anything, i respect him more for taking the high road and acknowledging nintendo's mistake by not sporting it.

and as far as the power pad, he's probably playing track meet or burger time while this photo was being taken. how could he possibly wear it when he's running hurdles? i forgive not wearing it for his most likely using it.

and on a separate note, props for keeping things uniform with the gray zapper. the lesser fan would have been content with the orange series. kudos to you, nintendo kid. kudos.

mustdestroyalltraces: I like you, kid. :) The fact that you give this guy the benefit of the doubt and imagine he is playing a legit game of Burger Time with his friends and not playing Track and Field (with his hands of course) gives me a sense of restored faith in humanity again.

And true that about the zapper. I only owned the gray version myself (there was no orange version that early in the day when I got my own NES). I tend to forget that there are ugly orange zappers out there floating about.

You're welcome back to my comments section any day. :)

The B.O.B.

thanks for the invite. i'll be checking back, then.

on another track and field related note, i like how all your opponents in the one player game are named after animals. the best part is, though, some of them were animals not exactly known for their speed.
"bear" comes to mind.
