Thanks for all the interest but my Beach Buggy has now moved on to pastures new.

(If you're driving around Dorset you may catch a sight of her.)

Beach Buggy
This is NOT a half-finished kit car project looking for a new wrench jockey with spare garage space. This pink lady is a finished roadworthy vehicle. She's loads of fun to drive, tears up the tarmac and turns heads everywhere she goes.
She's not some slutty tramp either, she's got grace and style. No 'pimped out' decals, go faster stripes or gaudy paintwork. Instead she sports an elegant fusion of subtle grey upholstery, shiny chrome and sunshine pink bodywork.
I bought this beach buggy nearly five years ago and she's been running like a dream since then. I only do a hundred miles or so a year but every yard is a pleasure. I don't want to sell her, of course, but I need the garage space and the cash to build one of my own. I only hope I can build one as good as this.
Built on the rigid 2 axle chasis of a 1971 Volkswagen Beetle, her tax class is "Historic Vehicle" which means the annual tax disk required to keep her on the road is free. That's right, you don't pay a penny in road tax to drive her on the highways and byways of the United Kingdom.
In the Summer of 2000 she changed hands and began her rejuvenation into her present form. The old Volkswagen Beetle became a JAS Buggy (that's what it now says on the V5 document). She still has a tuned 1641cc petrol engine that runs just fine on unleaded fuel. The odometer reads at something just below 100,000 miles but I know that it's not 100% accurate (because there was a period the numbers just didn't move).
If you go to the web site of "JAS Speedkits" you'll see the pricelist for parts there. You'll also see that those nice folk will build you a beach buggy in the colour of your choice for the tidy sum of £8,500 + VAT. You'll even see a shot of THIS beach buggy on their site. The "Pink Lady" goes way beyond the 'starting from' model and she can be yours for much less than £10,000 (£8,500 + VAT = £9,987.50).
Take a look at the pictures, Isn't she lovely ? Those Cooper Cobra Radial tyres stand 24" high on the front axle and 26" on the rear. The front ones are a full 9" wide and the rear ones really fill out those wheel arches at 11" wide. The tyres are mounted on shiny steel wheel rims and have the cute detail of pink valve caps. The two front bucket seats and the rear bench seat are all upholstered in grey with matching grey carpets. The front seats have seat belts, of course, and the rear bench seat also has two lap belts. Great for taking the kids for a fun ride.
The driver has a grey leather racing steering wheel and a chrome gearstick knob. The dashboard includes an original VW Beetle VDO speedo and there's a Panasonic RDS110 stereo radio-cassette. Two speakers are mounted at either end of the dashboard and they pump out a satisfying volume even with the wind rushing through your hair.
In the rain or just to make her feel cosy in the garage she can dress up in her full wet weather gear in matching grey 'faux-suede' (I don't really know what you call that material but it's much classier than your average canvas or plastic). There's an overhead cover incorporating a rear viewing panel and two side window panels that zip into place.
She has tax and MOT until April 2009. Insurance cost me just £110 last year. Oh, and there's an 'immobiliser' fitted. If you're interested in buying I'll throw in the cassette adapter that lets you plug your iPod into the stereo, a matching pink holdall and a couple of 'Volkswagen enthusiast' books I've acquired.
I'm looking for £5,000 to sell her. I think that's a bargain. I paid more for her and you could pay twice as much. You're welcome to ask me any questions you like, I'll do my best to answer. You can arrange to come and view her if you're able to (I'm in Bovey Tracey, Devon). If you buy her from me you can either arrange collection yourself or come to some arrangement (£) with me to deliver her anywhere in England or Wales.
