It's Sunday in Woodstock, But What Day Is It on Alpha Centuri?
It's Sunday here in my home town, the day the Lord rested -- although I must admit, the concept of the Lord resting is one I never completely understood. I mean, if the Lord, the Creator, the Prime Mover and Shaker, made the heavens and earth in just six days, wouldn't you think He/She/It would have celebrated on the 7th instead of taking a nap, especially when you consider that the Lord, the Prime Mover and Shaker etc. was/is, as I understand it, infinite, self-effulgent, made of pure energy, and not subject to the same laws of nature governing us. Then again, maybe there was no one to celebrate with -- Adam and Eve being somewhat dazed beneath the apple tree and not yet up to the challenge of really understanding how to boogey with the Host of Hosts, not just until the sun came up, but forever.

Hi Mitchie,
Actually, according to all reports it was on the 7th day the "lord" rested. According to the present calendar that was on what is today, Saturday(Shabbat). My understanding is that the "Name-rested" means that it was a time of in fact meditation and deep appreciation for the universe and all it offers. So if I understood correctly it was a celebration of life and a conscious timeless period of rest. It was a time where everyone and every domesticated creature is obligated to remember the breath and praise creation.
Adam(ADAM-Hebrew means EARTH) and Chava(EVE-Life) ate according to the commentaries a FIG from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. A fresh juicy fig, became self-realized and no longer experienced the Oneness of the Makom-place in which they inhabited. Drunk on separation they no longer could find their way home. Wandering the world of separation and given the tools to transcend, the journey continues home. Breath by breath.
Love to you
Steve
