10 best power strip designs

As I write this, I am surrounded by nicely designed furniture and lighting, and the only thing that ruins the overall effect are the ugly power strips. A humble gadget which is often very cheap and badly designed precisely because it is so ubiquitous that it is overlooked.

Here are a collection of well designed power strip ideas from sliding, plugin-anywhere systems, that have been available for high end office design for decades but haven’t been available in consumer markets, to a $3500 audiophile power strip based upon quantum Resonance technology.

Belkin are one of the few accessory manufacturers to have constantly improved the quality of their designs, having originally stated as a low end gizmo manufacturer, they now excel.
Track based power strips, where you can plug in anywhere you want to, have been a staple of high end office design for decades.<p /><p />Eubiq is one of the few companies to be pitching their track based systems at the consumer market, for places like kitchens and home offices.<p /><p />If money were no object, this is how all power strips should work.

You could reasonably ask why this item is in the list, since it is a concept whose only feature is the rotating socket.<p /><p />This is a out design, however, and it is difficult to add features to the humble power strip. What is lacking, are power strips that are well made and look good. This would fit the bill.
Another concept design, which we have picked in terms of looks rather than features. The icon label dial is nice, but a permanent marker would do the job just as well.
When it comes to anything to do with cables, audiophile gear is always a thousand times more anally retentive (and expensive). The Walker Audio Velocitor S uses what is called Quantum Resonance technology and costs several thousand dollars.
