There has been plenty of discussion about this building, which appears to float in air. It seems that it is real and is a farm building in the Ukraine.

This is one of my favorite finds ever, for Oobject.

The R/P FLIP (Floating Instrument Platform), nicknamed the Flip ship is designed to partially sink so that it tips vertically and half submerges, with bulkheads becoming floors.

The platform houses instrumentation for monitoring weather data etc.

incredibly, this thing is not one of those weird pieces of defunct engineering from the first half of the 20th Century. It is still in operation after a $2M renovation in 1995.
The Jelly Fish 45 floating habitat is designed by by Giancarlo Zema and costs perhaps $2.5M.
The Freedom Ship has been threatening to get built for years. The biggest boat ever to be built , if it does ever get built. A giant sarcophagus filled with tens of thousands of old people in retirement homes. It will drift aimlessly, allowing housebound residents to literally watch the world go by.

I am thinking that this may be a better deterrent than a missile laden aircraft carrier. It would enable the US to unleash hell on its opponents threatening to dock in unfriendly ports and dump 30,000 bickering retirees from Brooklyn, to complain about the food.
A Swedish firm is planning on building these luxury floating island residences. The first one is due to be completed off Cancun in 2010.
This 25 floor tower is planned for where else but Dubai. The floating foundations are to be only 20 feet deep and the entire tower rotates (in the horizontal plane, one hopes).
Russian nuclear company Rosenergoatom has plans to build a floating nuclear plant for Northern areas that are hard to reach. Due to be completed in 2010, it could provide electricity for 200,000 people.
Floating a mile and a half off the Belgian coast, the Floating Mountain of Immortals is a giant stainless steel art piece by Chinese sculptor Zhan Wang.
Nowhere was the difference between the prosperity of post war Europe and America more explicit than in the sheer parsimony of European trailers compared to american counterparts such as Airstreams.

This picture of a floating recreational trailer in West Berlin is a perfect complement to the tacky opulence of the floating pyramid hotels.
consecrated on a snowy December day in 1848, the Church of the Holy Redeemer became a familiar site in Philadelphia’s harbor, till it burned down in 1870.

What is most surreal about this floating church is that its architectural form derives nothing from the fact that it is floating, making its impact all the greater.
Jumbo Kingdom is a giant floating restaurant in Manila Bay. I believe there are 2 other similar ones in Asia.
The concept of a massive structure to house the same thing that is is surrounded by - water, is what makes the irony of floating swimming polls so delicious.
