impressive moving bridges
Getting out of the way of boats is a perennial problem that results in spectacular engineering, from the absolutely enormous retractable bridge in the Gulf of Corinth in Greece, to the beautiful bridge in Paddington Basin, London, which automatically curls itself into a ball, once a day.

A lovely idea, this installation in an abandoned church, consists of a flooded floor and stepping stones which reveal themselves mechanically, one at a time as you walk across the floor.
The landmark Duluth Ariel Lift Bridge, actually began its life as one of the worlds only transporter bridges, which carry items across in a gondola supported by wires from the gantry above. It is nonetheless still a wonderful structure in its more recent incarnation.
